In an off season with many additions, such as Jay Cutler and Orlando Pace, the Chicago Bears were looking like a mighty fine team, but questions remained prompt about the WR core that was placed before Cutler, who would take over for the 2009-2010 season. Those questions have been answered.
In a whirlwind of free agency deadlines, cuts, and trades, CEO of the Chicago Bears released a statement that wide receiver superstar Plaxico Burress had been added into the updated roster, making him the #1 go to guy.
Raylin Coster, analyst following the Chicago Bears, was there to witness the trade talks. "Many teams were interested when trying to get Burress, almost to a point of desparity, but the Chicago Bears placed an offer that couldn't be turned down." said Coster.
That amount is currently disclosed, but Coster did say that the deal was quite big, and it extends for three years, with plenty of incentives and bonus rewards available.
With this addition, Burress suddenly becomes a focal point of the offense, leaving Devin Hester, the speed cannon, to wreak havoc on less coverage. With his availability, Bennet and Davis should produce well in the slot if they can develop. Also don't forget that Greg Olsen will be around, as will Forte who lead running backs in receptions last year. With this newly found offense coming into the new season, defenses will be stretched thin, and now the focus for the Chicago Bears becomes defense and staying healthy.
